The first batch of hot-rolled plates was obtained at the new capacities of KUMZ

The final stage for the commissioning of new capacities of the second stage of the project "Rolling Complex" of JSC Kamensk-Uralsky Metallurgical Plant is gaining momentum.
42 hot-rolled plates (thickness from 150 to 25 mm and length from 10 to 26 meters) from aluminum alloys of 3ххх, 5ххх series were produced in the framework of works on "hot" tests of the rough mill of the hot rolling mill (Danieli-Freling) .
As the results showed, the quality of rolling across the entire range of studies meets the requirements of the international ASTM standard.
Rolling on a rough stand of a new hot rolling mill for the first cast ingot of aluminum alloy 5052 was performed by specialists of OJSC KUMZ, with the participation of specialists from the equipment manufacturer.
Until the end of November, it is planned to test the supply of hot-rolled billets from the rough to the finishing stand of the hot rolling mill. At this stage of the "hot" tests, the whole complex of equipment for hot rolling will be involved. Heating of ingots under hot rolling is carried out in chamber furnaces (company Ebner), surface treatment of cast billets is performed on a milling unit (the company IFF).
For reference. Realization of the project "Rental complex" will ensure the supply of qualitatively new (by geometry and nomenclature) semi-finished products, multiply increase the share of Russian products from the most modern aluminum-lithium alloys in the total volume of their supplies to leading domestic and foreign corporations.
The design capacity of the complex is 166 thousand tons, but the capacity of this complex is almost 2 times higher. The rolling complex is built with the prospect of full supply of developing Russian industry with semi-finished products and products made of aluminum alloys.
Since 2012, when the project started, the investment volume for it exceeded 45 billion rubles. The project is implemented with own and borrowed funds, Gazprombank acts as the main creditor of the project.
